Plaid Goat Mountain Bike Fest is a three-day festival June 21 – 23, 2019, held in the beautiful mountain town of Canmore, AB offering a buffet of for-fun activities. The event is a large-scale demo and expo that has a low entry cost and offers different ways to celebrate riding the Rockies. Check out last year’s schedule here.
Though we’re working on this year’s program (and there will be some exciting additions!), here’s a general snapshot of what to expect:
Demo & Shuttles: test the tastiest bikes of the season from the best mountain bike brands in the industry & get a lift to fast track your travel. Add-on required ($20/day and $30/weekend). Limited tickets available.
Regional Craft Beer Hub: sample handpicked high quality beverages from hand-picked regional brewers and distilleries.
Bike Rodeo hosted by the Flannel Crew: this event features fun spectator events like huck-to-flat comps, adult tricycle races, costume crits and other ridiculous behaviour … you get the idea!
Family friendly non-race activities: check out group rides, shuttles and coaching clinics (coaching clinics may have an additional fee, though most are open access)
Kids Hub: the kids will love digger pits, a skills & drills area, colouring and more! Find out more.
Secure bike parking: leave your car at home! We’ll keep your bike safe while you test bikes and enjoy the activities.
Representation from grass-roots mountain bike associations across the whole region.
Wildlife safety and digger’s discussions demonstrating our commitment to responsible riding.
Collaboration with partner-run, fun & friendly events like TransRockies Race Series’ Rundle’s Revenge.
Ride the Rockies Regional Stewards Program
Plaid Goat is creating a regional stewards program to support mountain bike associations; the groups dedicated to caring for the mountain bike trails across our region. In 2017 we developed the Ride the Rockies Society to support this vision. Learn more.
Plaid Goat Mountain Bike Fest is a novel mountain bike experience tailored especially for our region.
The activities at this three-day festival are different from other events in Western Canada as they align to the following pillars:
- Regional collaboration
- Celebration of our Canadian culture and the unique experience of mountain biking in the Canadian Rockies
- Inclusion and FUN!
- Social-economic reinvestment
To host the “Greatest Of All Time” (G.O.A T.) mountain bike festival that celebrates the culture of riding in the Canadian Rockies. This bucket list event will make locals proud and rally riders of all stripes from around the region and beyond.
For the Canadian Rockies to be globally known for having the “Greatest Of All Time” mountain bike experiences, with Plaid G.O.A.T. leading the way as a regional cultural and economic catalyst.
